'Lass mich vor dir sterben'

And further on our random musical journey: A few in German (or at least from German bands).

Tomte, 'Schreit den Namen meiner Mutter'

Wir Sind Helden, 'Nur ein Wort' (of course, the reference)

The Notwist, 'Gloomy Planets'

Having Tomte without also showing a Kettcar video is just wrong. It's like Weißwurst ohne Senf (Bavarian sweet).

Thanks for writing, Harvey.

But, somehow, I've never been able to like Kettcar as much as I feel I should, except for this song, which I love.

Otherwise, I find they lack...something. Maybe a bit of the berserk, slightly disturbing intensity at which Tomte, at their best, seem to excel.

With this in mind, if I were seeking some Bavarian sweet mustard (metaphorically speaking) to go with Tomte's...um...Weißwurst, I'd tend to go with Tocotronic or Blumfeld.

But, you know, I'm not insistent on that.

Besides which, there's something wrong, wrong, wrong about using a Bavarian metaphor to describe bands who are all from Hamburg.

But being, in essence, a southerner (in German terms only, mind) I'm not sure what the Hamburg equivalent might be.

Anyway, Harvey, you've given me something to think about. Schönen Tag noch.

Hey, thanks for the Tocotronic & Blumfeld videos. And I do apologize for being so Bavario-centric. It's in my blood, so to speak. Next time I'll try to come up with something to go with Labskaus.

No apology necessary, Harvey.

Hmmm. Labskaus. Seems like a trip north is in order.
