R I.P. Pete Postlethwaite

... I am so very sad that you are no longer with us.

And istn't it odd that I should get Distant Voices, Still Lives as a Christmas present, the trailer of which today almost seems like a requiem?



I mean: "I loved our dad"?

I know it's trite, but news of his death immediately made me think of that "Danny Boy" scene in Brassed Off, which still makes me weepy just to watch that short clip. He will be missed.
