Phrase of the Day

I'm watching the BBC news. It's item two after Obama in Berlin: Mr Mosley's famous latex antics. No need to discuss the issue as such - just a linguistic point: What the hell is a "Nazi-style sex orgy"? For that is the phrase that was used. And I'm kind of puzzled.

It's a Nazi-themed sexy orgy, as described by tabloid journalists for whom the word "theme" is a bit poncy.

I think that this sort of orgy requires all sex acts to be in rhythm to Horst-Wessel-Lied.

On another note, your best wishes for the birth of Ezra were much appreciated. He's going splendidly.

Thank you both for your hermeneutic support! Here's how the Metro (or whatever grim journalistic freeby I perused bleary-eyedly this morning on the train) put the matter:

"Mosley's non-Nazi S&M orgy: Courtdecides the public shouldn't have heard about the prostitutes, spanking and German overtones."

German overtones, my arse! Like: Umlauts, or what?
